About The Hudson Valley: the back story

Metro-North’s Hudson Line follows the river north from Grand Central, so the Hudson Valley is easy without a car.

Art

Storm King Art Center in New Windsor is a huge open-air sculpture park, and Dia Beacon shows contemporary art in Beacon.

History

Historic Hudson Valley runs Philipsburg Manor, Washington Irving’s Sunnyside and Van Cortlandt Manor, with autumn events such as the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze; Franklin D. Roosevelt’s home is at Hyde Park.

The train ride up the Hudson is part of the trip.

Getting there

Take Metro-North’s Hudson Line from Grand Central to Beacon or Poughkeepsie.

Our advice: check opening days, as many sites close one or two days a week.
