About DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights: the back story

DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Its warehouses have become homes, offices and shops, and Brooklyn Bridge Park runs along the water; Brooklyn Heights, next door, is a neighbourhood of brownstones.

The bridges

Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge from City Hall, or take the NYC Ferry to the DUMBO landing.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

The piers and lawns of Brooklyn Bridge Park face Lower Manhattan, with Juliana’s, Grimaldi’s, the River Café and Time Out Market close by.

Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and down into DUMBO for the view back to Manhattan.

Brooklyn Heights

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade looks across to Lower Manhattan, above streets of 19th-century houses.

Living here

Two Trees Management has converted many of DUMBO’s warehouses, and new towers such as the Olympia have joined them; Leslie J. Garfield has a Brooklyn Heights office for townhouses.

Our advice: come for sunset, when the skyline lights up across the river.
