About Midtown and Fifth Avenue: the back story

Midtown is the Manhattan of postcards: Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s, the Fifth Avenue flagships, Grand Central and the Empire State Building, with Central Park at its top.

Fifth Avenue

From the Plaza at 59th Street, Fifth Avenue runs south past Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Co., Cartier and Saks Fifth Avenue, with the Peninsula, the St. Regis and Aman a few steps away.

Rockefeller Center

Between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, Rockefeller Center has the rink, the Christmas tree in season, Radio City Music Hall and Top of the Rock.

Walk Fifth Avenue from the Plaza to the Library and you have seen Midtown.

Grand Central

On 42nd Street, Grand Central Terminal, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and the New York Public Library are within a few blocks.

Billionaires’ Row

Along West 57th Street, the supertall residential towers rise near Carnegie Hall and Central Park.

Our advice: stay near Central Park South or Fifth Avenue for the classic New York trip.
