About The Upper West Side, Lincoln Center and Central Park: the back story

The Upper West Side lies between Central Park and the Hudson, with Lincoln Center at its southern end and some of the city’s most famous apartment buildings along Central Park West.

Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center

At Columbus Circle, Mandarin Oriental, Per Se, Masa and Jean-Georges cluster around the corner of the park; Lincoln Center, home of the Met Opera, the Philharmonic and New York City Ballet, is a few blocks north.

Central Park West

The American Museum of Natural History and New-York Historical face the park, and Tavern on the Green is inside it at 67th Street.

Opera at the Met, then supper at Columbus Circle.

Food

Zabar’s, Barney Greengrass and Levain Bakery’s original shop are Upper West Side institutions.

Our advice: cross Central Park on foot from the Met to the Natural History Museum.
